I have several problems with a member of this band, so I'm disinclined to like this album. However, exceptional music speaks for itself, and this album really is exceptional, from the guitar work to the vocals to the production. As painful as it is for me to write these words, this is among the best releases of the year and firmly belongs in the collection of anyone who cares about contemporary indiepop.

Me & Magdalena has always been a favourite RPP cover for me. Evocative of a dusty road movie, with distant state lines, sunsets, canyons and oceans; a glorious song about love, memories, loss, regrets and the tantalising, unknown possibilities and pleasures of the future. This music has a timeless quality to it -- if you told me it was recorded in 1987 I'd have no trouble believing you. Dreamy, swooning indie pop at its absolute finest.
